Schneider, Kurt (1959) Klinische psychopathologie
Rating: ♥♥♥♥ (Fine)
Shelfworn book that has all pages and leaves present, no tears on either binding or paper
Kurt Schneider, a German psychiatrist, played a key role in improving psychiatric diagnosis. Born in Crailsheim, he became the director of the Psychiatric Research Institute in Munich but left due to his opposition to Nazi psychiatric practices. After serving as an army doctor in World War II, he contributed to rebuilding Germany’s medical institutions. Schneider introduced First-Rank Symptoms to differentiate schizophrenia, emphasizing diagnosis based on symptom form. Although these symptoms were once influential, their reliability for schizophrenia diagnosis has been questioned. Schneider’s contributions and resistance to Nazi ideologies left a lasting impact on psychiatry.
