Julian de Ajuriaguerra (1911-1993) was a Spanish-French psychiatrist and neurologist. He was born in Bilbao, Spain. He fled to France during the Spanish Civil War and pursued medical studies there.

Ajuriaguerra made significant contributions to child psychiatry and neuropsychology. He combined insights from psychoanalysis, neurology, and psychiatry. His work advanced understanding of psychomotor development in children and the neuropsychological aspects of language and behavior.

In 1962, he published “Monoamines et Système Nerveux Central: Symposium Bel-Air, Genève, Septembre 1961.” This book resulted from a symposium in Geneva where experts discussed the role of monoamines in the central nervous system. Ajuriaguerra’s participation highlighted his commitment to integrating neurobiological research with clinical practice.

He authored many influential texts and conducted extensive research. His interdisciplinary approach and dedication to mental health care left a lasting legacy in neurology and psychiatry.
